Update on HP Canada enterprise group

As was reported last week on CDN, approximately 10 senior executives left HP Canada’s enterprise group (NYSE: HPQ).

Those departures were led by Sal Giulione, vice president channels, servers, storage and networking for HP Canada and Geoff Kereluik, the vice president of commercial sales.

Other HP Canada executives that left are:

* Ross Belcher, vice president of Canadian pre-sales;

* Ed Maxwell, ESSN national channel manager; and

* Dick Bird, mission critical computing business executive at HP Canada.

These executives will have their last day at HP Canada this Friday. Also Dave Frederickson, who was the vice president of enterprise storage and servers group, is in executive limbo. A source inside HP Canada told CDN that Frederickson’s status is “unknown.” The source added that HP will be looking for a new role for him, but that it was still to be determined.

Frederickson has been with HP Canada for more than 20 years. He is a true channel advocate and was well respected by the channel community in Canada. Frederickson’s impact in the channel was recognized by CDN in 2008 when he was named the No. 3 Newsmaker of the year.

The same can be said for Kereluik who is a popular executive in the channel community; producing dynamic results for the organization for channel partners for many years.

A different source told CDN that the enterprise group will have a new pecking order. Subsidiary president Peter Galanis will hold the title of vice president of the enterprise group at HP Canada.

His top three lieutenants will all hold the title of vice president, converged infrastructure sales, cloud strategy & inside sales for three regions of Canada: Central, Eastern and Western.

Charlie Atkinson will be in control of Central Canada; Mario Vitale is in charge of the eastern region, while Colin McGrath will run the west.

Galanis will also have three other direct reports: Ron Fuller, vice president, sales – networking solutions; Roger Walker, vice president, financial and retail sales, and vice president, enterprise server sales; and Rob Adley, vice president, enterprise server sales at HP Canada.

Another development at HP Canada is the rise of Andrew Eppich as the vice president – partners & channels for HP Canada’s Enterprise Group.

The source told CDN that he will be playing a more prominent role at the company.

All these moves do not impact the newly formed Printers and Personal Systems Group or PPS in Canada headed by Lloyd Bryant. There is also no status change with Leyland Brown, she is still awaiting assignment.

These moves stem from the recently announced 27,000 person staff cuts by HP CEO Meg Whitman.
