Avnet Technology Solutions has introduced a global business model called Avnet Services that is aimed to help the distributor increase operation efficiencies and align with existing professional services organizations in the channel.

The company made it clear that the plan for the Avnet Services team is to work with channel partners of all sizes and expertise. Initially Avnet Services will focus on software, lifecycle and education services.

Phil Gallagher, the president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Global said Avnet Services will solution providers faster time to market, variable cost models, and increased revenue and margins from services offerings.

He added that the IT services market is estimated to be $674.9 billion, with a four-year CAGR of four per cent; however, this large, growing market is underserved by the channel. Avnet Services is designed to help partners capitalize on this opportunity worldwide by leveraging the distributor’s ecosystem and IT services portfolio.

Another aspect of Avnet Services is that it plans to bring together the aftermarket and technology lifecycle services organizations within Avnet Integrated, and the services and software operations of recent acquisitions, such as Ascendant Technology, BrightStar Partners, Canvas Systems, Genilogix, Mattelli, Pepperweed Consulting, and TSSLink. Avnet Services will now support its partners through an integrated team of more than 2,000 service delivery specialists.

The Avnet Services team will be led by Bill Wentworth, senior vice president of Avnet Services. A 27-year veteran of the technology industry, Wentworth most recently served as senior vice president of Avnet Integrated, where he was responsible for managing and promoting the services capabilities of its acquired businesses, which include Broadband, Nexicore, Pinnacle Data Systems, and ROUND2. The regional services teams will report to Wentworth. Avnet Services, Americas, will be led by Tony Vottima, and the EMEA team will be led by Christian Magirus.
