DENVER, COLO. — Some six months after Phil Gallagher took over for John Paget as global president of Avnet Technology Solutions, he took time out recently from Compass, Avnet’s conference for its Sun Microsystems partners, to sit down with CDN.
Gallagher, who came from the electronics marketing side of Avnet’s business, has spent the last six months getting familiar with the technology distribution side of the business, along with the distributor’s global operations and expansion plans for Asia.
In his conversation with CDN, Gallagher discussed what he’s learned during his first six months on the job, his priorities for the next six months, Avnet’s evolution from a value-added distributor to a solutions distributor, and how he sees Oracle’s acquisition of Sun impacting Avnet’s business.
