VMware Canada makes it official: Gales is in charge

VMware Canada told its stakeholders today what CDN reported first last week.

Former Microsoft Canada president, Eric Gales is the new country manager of VMware Canada.

VMware officials did note that the Country Manager title was created for Gales.

The subsidiary added that the newly formed role marks a continued investment and growth strategy for VMware in Canada. Gales will be responsible for helping to drive VMware’s products and services into enterprise and commercial accounts throughout the country.

Gales will be responsible for the management of Canadian sales including technical consulting, professional services and field marketing.

Jeff Casale, senior vice-president and GM, for VMware Americas, said the company is building momentum in Canada, and the organization is excited to have Gales on board to drive the next phase of growth. “With his extensive leadership and technical experience, we’re confident Eric is the right person at the right time to lead the VMware Canada team as they continue to work closely with customers, helping them transform IT and deliver more value to their businesses,” Casale said in a statement.

The release did clear up Grant Aitken’s status at VMware Canada. As reported by CDN Aitken, the former CDN Newsmaker of the Year, will keep his title as Area Vice President. The release went on to say that Aitken will remain a critical member of VMware Canada’s senior leadership team. Aitken will work closely with Gales focusing on growing VMware Canada’s large enterprise accounts.
