What partners can likely expect in the UC space

Unified Communications: More in Store for Channel in 2011
The VAR Guy
Charlene OHanlon writes what channel partners can likely expect around the unified communications and collaboration (UCC) space this year.

“Channel partners can expect to see more in the way of truly complete UC solutions. The problem thus far with UCC is no vendor offered a soup-to-nuts solution – one that natively included voice, video, presence, IM, mobility and all other elements of UC. Microsoft Lync apparently has changed that. Other vendors, I expect, will follow suit, either through homegrown innovation of through acquisitions. It’s safe to say that 2011 will see more action in UCC, which is good news for solution providers in the communications and collaboration space.”

20% of users now on Windows 7
Ars Technica
Emil Protalinski shares an overview of Windows 7 market adoption.

“The year 2010 ended quite well for two products from Microsoft and Google, at least when it comes to specific market share numbers. Windows 7 passed the 20 per cent mark while Chrome almost reached double digits. Despite IE8’s strong growth and the IE9 beta program, Internet Explorer has hit a historic low. Firefox is stubbornly holding on to its users, while Chrome and Safari continue their growth.”
