CDN honours excellence in the channel
Each year CDN – Computer Dealer News, Canada’s IT voice for the channel since 1985 hosts some of the top women executives in the Canadian IT channel. Sponsored by Ingram Micro Canada, the event this year took place at the historic Hunt Club in Toronto.
CDN along with Ingram Canada honoured five fantastic women executives who work for a solution provider. The event was highlighted by keynote speaker Veronica Tennant, prima ballerina for Canada.

The CDN honourees for 2012
The CDN Women in IT channel recognition luncheon honoured five senior women executives in the Canadian channel. They are from the left: Barb Huckstep from Insite Computer Group, Laura Tsingos from High Vail Systems, Cheryl Stookes from SHI Canada, Barb Cummings from Brodie Computes (Standing in for Barb is Karen Brodie), and Cathy Vankesteren of End to End Networks.

Can cloud spark more women to join IT?
That is the question we asked the panel this year at the CDN Women in the IT Channel Recognition Luncheon. The panel was made up of three cloud experts: Gina Thompson of Ingram Micro, Vawn Himmelsbach, IT journalist, and Dimension Data area director for Canada Wendy Lucas.

Creating a business network for women
IT World Canada president Fawn Annan was a guest speaker at the event. Her talk focused on encouraging all women in the channel to come together and exchange business idea and other opportunities for further career growth.

Channel execs flock to the Women in IT channel event
Close to 100 senior level channel executives attended the second annual Women of the IT channel recognition luncheon at Toronto’s Hunt Club. In this photo you see Ingram Micro Canada’s Jennifer Johnson speaking to the many guests at the club.

Guests get emotional for Veronica Tennant
There was not a dry eye in the Hunt Club during Veronica Tennant’s speech about overcoming all odds to fulfill your dreams. Tennant also talked about changing career goals after reaching the top of her profession.
Tennant is presented with a special gift
CDN Editor and host Paolo Del Nibletto presented Veronica Tennant with the contact sheet from legendary photographer Alberto Korda, who took the iconic photo of Cuba revolutionary Che Guevara.
Tennant entered the world of filmmaking after ballet. One of her passions is the country of Cuba and she has made several films based in that country.
Tennant has may fans in the IT channel
One of the great moments at the event was when Ingram Micro Canada executive Suzanne MacDonald brought Veronica Tennant’s 1977 book for her to sign.
Business to business
The CDN Women of the IT channel recognition luncheon is a philanthropic endeavor but there is a lot of networking opportunities such as this one between Patricia Herdman, president of Test Matters and Susan McLarty, global sales director for Xplore Technologies.
