BlackBerry channel chief outlines new strategy

Richard McLeod, vice president of global channel at BlackBerry.

TORONTO – BlackBerry’s global channel chief Richard McLeod was at the CDN Top 100 Solution Providers gala to talk to solution providers about the pivot the company is making.

McLeod presented at the afternoon CDN Top 100 Workshop in front of a package audience of top solution provider executives about how BlackBerry is shifting its business model to security software.

According to McLeod, BlackBerry’s pivot is creating an interesting time for the channel partners in Canada and the rest of the world who are building mobility environments with security management.

In this video interview, McLeod outlined how BlackBerry has created the “enterprise of things” by transitioning to software and services mainly for the enterprise. “What is BlackBerry known best for? Security! We are taking that intelligence and creating an offering that goes across all operating systems and devices,” he said.

Each year, CDN, the voice of Canada’s IT channel community, connects with IT solution providers across the country to collect data for the CDN Top 100 Solution Provider Rankings.

The data is used to determine the annual ranking of the Top 100 solution providers as measured by revenue ranges, for which a gala is held to celebrate the contributions of these solution providers to the growth of the technology sector in Canada.
