B.C. firm launches new UC solutions platform

Unified communications firm CounterPath Corp. of Vancouver is rolling out an enterprise-grade solution platform that aims to make it easier for operators and companies to launch their own over-the-top (OTT) service across different UC-based server applications.

The company said its Stretto Platform, a comprehensive server architecture which supports enriched user experience for existing a new OTT deployments, tightly couples with CounterPath’s Bria, a carrier-grade softphone application that enables organizations to manage their communications from a computer.

As more consumers and businesses adopt new video and social media-based communication platforms, it has become imperative for carriers and enterprise companies to be able to deploy their own services over these platforms in order to provide customers with the UC user experience they expect and demand.

“Internet OTT solutions such as Skype, WhatsApp and Viber have evolved consumer expectations for all communications, both personal and professional, said Todd Carothers, executive vice-president of marketing and products at CounterPath, in a statement.

He said, that in order compete, operators and enterprises need OTT solutions that will not only strengthen customer relations and reduce customer churn but also increase employee productivity but enhance data security and cut operating costs as well.

“When coupled with the Bria client, the Stretto platform enables enterprises and operators to launch their own OTT services across most UC-based server architectures, including Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Broadsoft, Cisco, Ericsson, GENBAND, Metaswitch, NEC and others,” said Carothers. “it not only meet theirs their operational requirements but also ensure an end-to-end user experience that is of the highest quality.

The Stretto Platform will be available in September through CounterPath direct and indirect sales channels.
