CDN’s Top 25 Newsmakers of 2015 – No 12: Luc Villeneuve

Red Hat is becoming a different company. No longer are they just the open source leader in the industry. They are transforming in new ways that make the company’s value proposition more interesting to the channel.

For example, its strategic alliance with Cisco; Red Hat now supports UCS OpenStack and Intercloud. Under the watchful eye of Red Hat Canada president Luc Villeneuve, the company has pursued strategic alliances with vigour.

Red Hat made more alliances in 2015 highlighted by the Microsoft partnership that will see Red Hat solutions available on Microsoft Azure as well as colocation of support personnel, a first for both companies.

Villeneuve also spearheaded the drive from a Canadian perspective on subsequent alliances with Tata Consulting Services, Wipro, Dell, SAP, Lenovo and most recently Samsung.

Red Hat and Samsung plan to deliver the next generation of enterprise mobility solutions that draws upon the combined technology of each company. Samsung’s mobile device portfolio will be fused with Red Hat’s open source middleware, mobile and cloud technologies.
