The Frank Sinatra song “It was a very good year” truly applies to solution provider executive Brian Bourne in 2015.
Bourne turned 40 in 2015; a milestone age for many. And, in 2015 Bourne decided to make several career and market altering moves. Bourne, the president and founder of CMS Consulting, was really innovative in 2015 with the introduction of Infrastructure Guardian, a separate company offering Cloud Management-as-a-Service or CMaaS.
CMaaS is a one-stop shop for cloud solutions with Microsoft Azure, from virtual machines and storage to network configurations and disaster recovery solutions for public, private and hybrid cloud environments.
Infrastructure Guardian then became a significant piece in his deal to sell CMS to Washington, D.C.-based heavyweight New Signature.
New Signature captured Microsoft’s 2014 American Partner of the Year award and in June of 2015 acquired the Toronto-based CMS along with sister company Infrastructure Guardian.
New Signature describes itself as a Microsoft specific national solution provider and CMS with Infrastructure Guardian is part of the company’s aggressive strategic expansion plans. As a result New Signature will operate as New Signature Canada with Brian Bourne running the company as President.
Bourne told CDN: “This is extremely important to me because it’s not just CMS and Infrastructure Guardian executives becoming part of New Signature; our whole team is coming with us. I couldn’t be more excited about the deal.”
As New Signature Canada, Bourne is now able to grow the business at a different rate. He can also fund growth opportunities both organically and inorganic.
“The good news is they have a real CFO so I don’t have to pretend to be one,” Bourne said in a previous interview.
“I can now focus on building a business instead of running a business. On a personal level that is what’s really satisfying about all of this.”
