Dimension Data Canada executive gets a big promotion

Wendy Lucas was named the country manager of Dimension Data Canada in 2014

CDN has learned that Wendy Lucas has been promoted to country manager of CDN Top 100 Solution Provider Dimension Data Canada.

Lucas was the area vice-president for Dimension Data Canada since 2007 and spearheaded the founding of the subsidiary. She was Dimension Data’s first Canadian employee. Prior to starting the IT services and solution provider in Canada, Lucas was the senior vice-president of sales and integrated solutions at the now defunct NexInnovations.

She first began work in the IT industry as a sales rep at Hamilton Computers more than 20 years ago.

Lucas told CDN in a previous interview that her business mandate is to “make sure we get the right people in the business and to make sure that everyone continues to grow by utilizing education and resources (at work). It’s also important to make sure we’re in front of the clients and are working with them on a daily basis,” she added.

Recently Dimension Data announced a new cloud backup solution with optional backup and recovery services available as an add-on to its enterprise-class public, private and hosted private Compute-as-a-Service (CaaS) offerings.

This news was followed up with the introduced of WAN optimization capabilities to its cloud globally.

Dimension Data plans to deploy WAN optimization technology for its Managed Cloud Platform (or MCP) cloud data centres, in hopes to increase application performance across the entire cloud. The company believes organizations can use this for database replication, file synchronization, and backup and disaster recovery between data centres.

This WAN optimization is provided as part of the company’s standard public cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering at no additional charge.

Dimension Data Canada is currently ranked No. 29 in the annual CDN Top 100 Solution Providers Rankings up from 31st place last year. According to the CDN Top 100, Dimension Data Canada’s revenue sits at $50 million to $75 million. The first year Dimension Data Canada entered the Top 100 list it posted revenues of just $25 million. That year the company won the Best Newcomer Award.

Lucas recently made CDN’s fourth annual list of Women in the IT channel ecosystem. A selection of 25 top executives from the vendor, distributor, and channel communities.
