Panasonic launches updated Toughbook 20

With the 2018 version of its rugged 2-in-1 Toughbook 20, Panasonic is highlighting improved features and battery life.

The 2-in-1 detachable laptop is equipped with boosted power with an Intel Core i5 7Y57 processor, and up to 512 GB of SSD storage. The standard version of the ToughBook 20 now comes equipped with Windows 10 Pro, although a Windows 7 Professional option is still available for those customers who have yet to make the complete transition to Windows 10.

In order to get a boost in battery life, Panasonic has included support for an optional second battery that can be inserted into the keyboard to double battery life. Users can also hot swap charged batteries, preventing the need to shut down or hibernate, through a new ‘bridge battery’ mode for users who are using the ToughBook 20 for extended periods of time.

Other features include an integrated digitizer equipped alongside the touchscreen, an infrared webcam that supports Windows Hello applications, a rear-facing 8 MP camera, and an optional magstrip reader.

The ToughBook 20 is available now from Panasonic channel partners.

Just last year Panasonic celebrated its 20th anniversary of the ToughBook brand. Over the course of two decades, the ToughBook survived the Siberian winter, taken some bullets in the Afghanistant conflicts, and climbed Mount Everest.

Panasonic also announced in the fall that it is going all in on the e-SIM for its devices.
