Westcon bolsters diversity with new executive appointments

Westcon Group, a global value added distributor of communications, data centre and security solutions, today announced the appointment of two women to top positions in the company.

The appointment Cathy Jassup, former chief financial officer of Pitney Bowes, to the CFO position in Westcon and company veteran Lynn S. Murphy to the executive vice-president post for North America, “reinforces the power of diversity” across the management ranks of Westcom, according to company statement. “…half of Westcon’s regional business units are now run by women and the streamlined executive leadership team now boasts seven nationalities covering every continent.”

Westcon has facilities and maintains a network of specialty resellers in several countries around the globe including Canada. The company’s portfolio of vendors includes: Avaya, Blue Coat, Brocade, Cisco, Check Point and Polycon.

Jessup leads Westcon’s global finance function, including operational support, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, controls, legal procurement, risk management and lender relations. Prior to moving to Westcon, Jessup was CFO for Pitney Bowes’ services division.

As vice-president for Westcon’s North America operations, Murphy is responsible for the development and execution of business strategy as well as profit and loss functions across Westcon’s business lines on the continent.

Murphy joined Westcon in 1997 and was responsible for positioning the company as a top value-added specialty distributor in North America. Before working for Westcon, she held various positions at Bell Canada.
