Avaya Canada will have a new channel chief this fall

Miles Davis of Avaya Canada

Miles Davis, the channel chief of Avaya Canada, has been promoted to the position of vice president of sales for Eastern Canada.

No replacement has been announced, but the post is expected to be filled by no later than September. Davis will continue to be Avaya’s channel leader in Canada, while the networking and collaboration vendor looks to fill his shoes. The promotion does mean Davis will have to relocate to Montreal.

Davis held the position of channel chief for nearly two years and in that time instituted the Recruit Onboard Accreditation Develop Sustain program, put in place a bold initiative to double Avaya’s mid-market business in the next two years, and brought in more partner incentives than every before.

More recently Davis spearheaded the introduction of the cloud-based IP Office solution to Canada. With that he inked to exclusive channel partners to help Avaya Canada bring the offering to market.

The two partners were Markham, Ont. and Vancouver-based unified communications specialist Telephonetics and value added distributor Westcon Canada of Burlington, Ont. These were exclusive deals to bundle and distribute IP Office in Canada.

“The solution is core to our mid-market strategy in Canada,” Davis said.

The move comes as Avaya reported financial results for the third fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2015.

Total revenue reported for Avaya in the quarter was $999 million, which is up $4 million compared to the prior quarter. On a year-over-year basis revenue was down $55 million compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2014. After adjusting for fluctuations in foreign exchange rates, total revenue for the quarter was up one per cent sequentially and down two per cent year-over-year.
