Avnet, Inc. has promoted Patrick Zammit to serve as global president for Avnet Technology Solutions, one of two global operating groups within Avnet.
Zammit replaces Phil Gallagher and was the president of Avnet Electronics Marketing in the EMEA region.“I believe Patrick is the right leader to take advantage of new opportunities for profitable growth at Avnet Technology Solutions which will contribute to the long-term success of Avnet” Gallagher plans to remains with Avnet to help provide a smooth leadership transition for Zammit, according to the company.
He will be responsible for the strategic direction and the day-to-day operations. He will report to Avnet CEO Rick Hamada. Hamada said that Zammit is the right leader to take advantage of new opportunities for profitable growth at Avnet Technology Solutions which will contribute to the long-term success of Avnet. Zammit has expertise in managing complex multicultural and geographic markets.
Zammit takes the president’s role in a time when Avnet just opened a Global Development Centre in China and just after being selected by HP to bring its Converged System 700 to market. Zammit also takes over after the value added distributor introduces its latest cloud offering.
Zammit began his career with Arthur Andersen and joined Avnet in 1993. He has held a series of positions in finance, operations and strategic planning and served as president of EBV Elektronik, another Avnet company, before being promoted to regional president of Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA in 2006.
