EMC announces SAP partnership expansion, hybrid cloud offerings and partner credential program

EMC

The EMC Federation today announced expansions to its partnership with SAP, new hybrid cloud offerings, and a new partner program.

Making use of its May acquisition of cloud computing management software provider Virtustream, EMC has announced that the subsidiary would become one of several “premier strategic providers” of cloud infrastructure services for applications in SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud.

Virtustream has been deployed in production environments of “more than 200 SAP solutions and one of the first implementations of the SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA in the cloud,” EMC said. “[It] forms the foundation of the EMC Federation’s new managed cloud services business, led by chief executive officer Rodney Rogers.”

On the solutions front, EMC is talking integration, such as of VMware hybrid networking capabilities with future versions of the Virtustream xStream Cloud Management Platform.

Other announcements in this area include the addition of a pay-as-as-you-go model for VMware’s Disaster Recovery OnDemand as well as a new software-as-a-service offering called Site Recovery Manager Air.  It’s a disaster recovery plan management solution with features including design, testing, execution and orchestration of business continuity.

Next, VMware’s vCloud Air Object Storage will be integrated into the vCloud Air OnDemand Platform.

VCE, meanwhile, has expanded its hyper-converged rackscale system VxRack, creating a new offering based on VMware software aims to help enable quick and cost effective hybrid cloud deployments.

For partners, a new “Federation Ready” credential program has also been unveiled alongside what’s being dubbed the “Federation End-User Computing Solution,” aimed at simplifying VDI deployments.

Customers trying to navigate the myriad of solutions will not have to do so alone, however, as EMC has introduced a new marketing team. The company teased more announcements from Virtustream in relation to EMC Federation capabilities in the fourth quarter.
