All Hands on Tech: Dell Venue 11 Pro

In this edition of All Hands on Tech, the Dell Venue 11 Pro detachable device is reviewed.

Dell has a vested interest in dispelling the myth that the PC is dead and the Austin, Tex.-based hardware vendor is doing something to make the regular notebook more compelling. The Venue 11 Pro is a new form factor for Dell; one that brings the two-in-one flexibility users are looking for today.

The Dell Venue 11 Pro features a full HD screen with wide-angle viewing (10.8 full HD IPS display). It looks and feels pretty much like an ultrabook, but with the power of a desktop. The Venue 11 Pro is ideal for power users in business because what they are looking for is portability, battery life and the ability to get work done. For example, the Venue 11 Pro has built-in wireless video capabilities such as dual-band 2×2 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 for collaboration within groups. And, the Venue 11 Pro comes with PocketCloud for accessing files remotely.

Portability is a key since it detaches from the keyboard you can pass around the touch screen tablet to co-workers or potential customers for a better collaborative experience.

It reminds me of the old NetBooks of a decade ago which were outstanding portable devices, but lack computing punch.

The battery life was exceptional. I used this machine at various conferences that lacked a power source and lasted the entire work day without issue.

There are not any negatives to this device except for the short length power cord.

The Dell Venue 11 Pro is priced started at $829.
