Dell makes new software competencies official

As previously reported by CDN, this week Dell launched new software-specific enhancements to its PartnerDirect channel program with four new software competencies, as well as new service provider and referral programs.

By bringing the software competencies into PartnerDirect, Dell says partners will be able to sell both hardware and software solutions, and achieve Premier status through a mixed competency. Advanced competencies also offer paths to Premier for partners that specialize in one line of business. All partners that came to Dell through software acquisitions have also now been transferred into PartnerDirect.

The new competencies focus on Security, Systems Management, Data Protection and Information Management. Partners gain new paths to Premier status, rewards for training and sales achievement, marketing support and funding, support and training.

“Trained partners sell four times more than their untrained counterparts,” said Marvin Blough, executive director of worldwide channels and alliances for Dell Software, in a statement. “We are very excited to bring our partners a tremendous array of new benefits to expand their revenue potential and the scope of their customer relationships. It is a huge win for all of us to be part of a single program with end-to-end solution offerings and endless possibilities.”

Dell has also launched the Dell Service Provider program, with flexible pricing and billing for service providers on more than 150 Dell software products available to service providers, for solutions such as managing Windows messaging, collaboration and identity management, as well as virtual environments, databases and applications.

As well, Dell is introducing a referral fee program for Dell software solutions sold in the commercial sector, with rewards for partners that act as trusted advisors and refer Dell software solutions.
