5-megapix ‘iPhone 4’ set for June?

“The fourth generation iPhone has already been spotted in the wild. It will debut on June 28. It will have a 5-megapixel camera. And it will contribute to the 40-45 million iPhones that Apple plans to sell next year. Or so says a flurry of recent reports. From MacRumors comes word than one iPhone developer has spotted a reference to ‘iPhone 4′ in their Pinch Media analytics report.”

“Just about a decade old, HTC looks like it is poised to pull ahead of much older and larger rivals such as Samsung and LG in worldwide phone market share. While the older companies’ strength lies is in now-declining ‘feature phones,’ or inexpensive, less-capable handsets, HTC’s bet on the booming smartphone business is giving it a major boost. It has also acquired a powerful godfather in Google, the Goliath whose attention is now captivated by the mobile phone business and whose chosen partner is HTC.”
The next generation of netbooks takes shape

John Morris writes how PC vendors may use Intel’s Pine Trail processor platform to design and build netbooks in the coming year.
“Since Pine Trail doesn’t change much in terms of performance, the door is open a bit for other chipmakers to come up with ways to speed up netbooks. Intel has been working with Broadcom on a single video decoder chip, the BCM70015 Crystal HD, which will be an option for some netbooks to enhance performance with high-definition video. Meanwhile Nvidia looks set to release a new version of its ION chipset, which will not only bring 1080p video support, but also Blu-ray playback and better gaming performance.”
