Lenovo Canada’s channel chief Stefan Bockhop spent much of 2016 emphasizing the company’s interest in data centres and certification in Canada.

The company announced a new partnership with Nimble Storage in October 2016 that allowed it and its authorized partners to sell Nimble’s all-flash array and predictive analytics storage solutions. It also took steps to ensure that IT professionals had options when looking to qualify their data centre knowledge in November. Lenovo now offers two exams, the Lenovo Certified Data Centre Sales Professional exam and the Lenovo Certified Data Centre Technical Sales Professional exam for those in the industry, as well as study guides and training courses for each exam.

Bockhop has been with Lenovo Canada since May 2005, after more than a decade working at IBM Canada in positions ranging from a buyer, regional manager and account executive, to large enterprise client executive and sales execution manager.

So far in 2017, he has played an integral role in launching Lenovo’s Data Centre Program, a tiered benefit program which offers the company’s data centre partners new levels of industry credibility and prominence in the form of growth rebates, partner development funds, and access to dedicated resources. He is looking forward to solidifying this program in Canada and rewarding partners for their loyalty.

“One of the things that’s extremely attractive about Lenovo to data centre companies is that we don’t come with much baggage or existing infrastructure in the traditional sense,” Bockhop said in a previous interview with CDN. “Our data centre program is new and accommodating, which looks good to those companies, and we want to make sure they can leverage their expertise and gain some benefits from working with us.”
