Cisco to push further into collaboration, video and won’t cut jobs

Cisco Subnet recaps a bit of news from Cisco’s C-Scape industry analyst conference.

“Chambers promises that the company has only just begun with the development and sale of multimedia technologies for sports stadiums and delivery of interactive sports content to the home. He pointed to the new Yankee Stadium where Cisco will provide digital signs that can show game play in high definition all around the stadium and also give directions and other information.”

Microsoft and HP get SaaSy with resellers

“ Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft hope to give its value-added resellers (VARs) a leg-up in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) game by schooling their channel partners on how to effectively sell the apps to SMB customers. Microsoft said…under a new initiative with HP, the two companies plan to give VARs the tools and guidance that will ‘enable them to offer ‘private label’ Microsoft solutions that are hosted by managed service providers.’”

“(Intel will shrink the chip) to a 32 nanometer…one (as a) step in its ‘tick tock’ strategy, which aims to create a new architecture with new manufacturing process every 12 months…Here’s how Intel described its upcoming paper: The Intel 32nm paper and presentation describe a logic technology that incorporates second-generation high-k + metal gate technology, 193nm immersion lithography for critical patterning layers and enhanced transistor strain techniques. These features enhance the performance and energy efficiency of Intel processors.”
