Hitachi helps optimize data centres for the cloud

Organizations still hesitant to jump all-in to the cloud environment can move at their own pace without breaking the bank. In fact, putting together standards-based components need not even be a worry since Hitachi Data Systems said they have converged data centre solutions to help organizations implement the cloud with predictable results.

HDS said its new portfolio of converged data centre solutions supports Hitachi enterprise class storage systems and blades and other standard network infrastructure components to enable quicker and simpler deployment of cloud computing.

The Hitachi converged data centre solutions combine storage, computing and networking with software management, automation and optimization. These solutions help organizations build a cloud infrastructure using tightly integrated, shared components including storage, computing and data networking.

An independent analyst explained that solutions that help organizations deploy cloud easily allow them to concentrate on developing applications that will run on the infrastructure.

Cloud foundation

“In today’s fast evolving and economically challenging business world, IT organizations must spend less time configuring and managing individual devices or applications and dedicate more time developing, delivering, and enhancing new services,” said Richard Villars, vice president of storage and IT executive strategies, IDC.

“Companies like HDS that are providing converged data centre solutions built on a scalable, reliable, and flexible storage foundation will play a critical role in organizations’ data centre transformation efforts.”

HDS said its new solutions are the answer to organizations’ concerns about the few standards in cloud computing. This dilemma discourages organizations from adopting cloud since they are not sure if their investments will reap rewards eventually.

“Hitachi Data Systems is keenly focused on simplifying and accelerating our customers’ cloud environments while protecting their IT investments,” said John Mansfield, senior vice president, global solutions strategy and development, Hitachi Data Systems.

“Ultimately, these solutions help transform customers’ data centres into automated information centres that closely align business objectives with infrastructure performance to optimise return on assets.”
