HP Service Delivery Platform helps telecoms

HP announced telecom software that can help service providers tap Web 2.0 to spark growth in wireless revenue, it claimed. The HP Service Delivery Platform (HP SDP) now includes a virtual ‘sandbox’ in which developers can create new Web-based applications, widgets and mash-ups on the service provider’s wireless network, the vendor claimed.

By attracting non-telecom independent software vendors (ISVs) and providing them the tools to build applications, service providers can enrich their wireless networks with personalized services that subscribers want and are willing to pay for monthly.

“Service providers are better positioned to tap the new Web 2.0 revenue opportunities with HP SDP 3.0,” said Kapil Kaul, country manager- communications and media solutions, HP software and solutions.

According to the vendor, the new tools build on a standards-based service-oriented architecture (SOA) that reduces costs and complexity by replacing multiple service silos with a unified resource layer.

New HP SDP 3.0 components ease application development due to features such as HP SDP Service Governance RESTFul Gateway, Enabler Enhancements and Service Orchestration Manager among others, the vendor said.
