Microsoft updates Office 2008

Microsoft has introduced Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1, making the update available for download from Microsoft’s site or using the Microsoft AutoUpdate application.

“This update fixes critical issues in Office 2008, including issues that might cause Office 2008 applications to stop responding or quit unexpectedly,” the company explains.

The Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update contains several changes that improve security, stability, and performance. These changes include fixes for users of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, and include fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of a computer’s memory by using malicious code.

Microsoft also noted that the Office Installer no longer grants restricted users unauthorized access to Office 2008 for Mac program files.

Microsoft has documented a significant number of fixes in the specific applications included with Microsoft Office 2008.
