Peer 1 and Tier 3 launch enterprise cloud platform

Vancouver-based IT hosting provider Peer 1 Hosting (TSX: PIX) has teamed with Tier 3, a Bellevue, Wa.-based enterprise cloud platform company, to launch a joint offering aimed at the enterprise market.

The pair have developed a VMware-based, enterprise-grade cloud platform for the Canadian market that allows businesses to deploy applications on secure, enterprise cloud services in nodes located in Toronto and Vancouver.

“Cloud computing is about flexibility, reducing complexity, and minimizing operational costs. By bringing our partnership with Tier 3 to Canada, we are now enabling both Canadian and global enterprises to take advantage of a complete enterprise-grade cloud platform delivered with award winning service,” said Jay Newman, senior vice president with Peer 1 Hosting, in a statement.

The platform includes IaaS, PaaS and advanced cloud management. The vendors claim it helps businesses reduce IT complexity and operational burden while addressing the enterprise cloud requirement for data sovereignty with hosting occurring within Canada, under Canadian law and regulation.

“Enterprises moving business-critical applications to the cloud have stringent cloud selection requirements. With the expansion of Tier 3’s cloud to Canada, in partnership with Peer 1 Hosting, enterprises now have a compelling cloud solution for their entire application portfolio, from development to business-critical workloads,” said Mark Cravotta, senior vice-president with Tier 3, in a statement. “And, advanced cloud management built-in means businesses realize IT operational efficiency and development agility today.”
