Rogers nabs HTC Dream and HTC Magic for Canada’s first look at Android

Paul Miller writes that Rogers will be launching the HTC Dream and the HTC Magic phones in Canada beginning next month.

“The phones will Rogers exclusives in Canada, and it’s one of the first spots we’ve heard of — other than the fairly inevitable T-Mobile USA — to be getting the elusive HTC Magic outside of Vodafone. Otherwise details are scarce, but Rogers promises more information soon, and has an online countdown for ‘the revolution’ on June 2nd.”

Dell hunting M&A guru

Timothy Prickett Morgan writes that according to The Wall Street Journal, Dell is looking for a merger and acquisition “expert” to help “bolster” its business.

“The WSJ report is a bit thin, with the usual ‘people briefed on the matter’ telling the paper that Dell wants an executive to head up M&A activities. Evidently, this person would report to Dell’s chief financial officer, Brian Gladden.”

Layoffs hit Microsoft security unit

Ryan Naraine offers more details about Microsoft’s latest round of layoffs.

“The latest round of layoffs at Microsoft has taken a toll on Redmond’s security unit. Steve Riley, a senior security strategist who served as one of the public faces of Microsoft’s security efforts, had his position eliminated during the second round of cuts that happened this week. As Mary Jo Foley reported, the brunt of the latest cuts hit Microsoft’s sales, marketing and support units.”
