Router maker adds Cisco, Microsoft integration to products

Agito Networks, a maker of routers for mobile networks, this week added “business-class” enterprise fixed mobile convergence functionality to its products.

The announcement was made at the Interop Las Vegas 2008 trade show and conference.

Agito’s RoamAnywhere Mobility Router has been enhanced with high-availability features, integration with Cisco’s Unified Wireless Network product line, and support for identity-based mobility via integration with Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP.

RoamAnywhere’s high-availability functionality is delivered in a two-unit redundancy configuration. Multiple RoamAnywhere routers in “high availability mode” provide uninterrupted voice availability, with stateful failover across the routers, Agito says.

Agito’s location-aware technology integrates with Cisco’s Radio Resource Management functionality in its Unified Wireless Network line. Cisco’s Radio Resource Management dynamically optimizes WiFi RF settings to provide the best possible WiFi coverage and capacity, which helps maintain voice quality, Agito says.

Native integration with Active Directory and LDAP enables enterprises to use centralized user and group management for “zero-touch” client provisioning, deployment and administration, as well as for mobile access to corporate directories. This provides a standard identity profile for mobile voice and data access, and extends the centralized identity system to the mobility infrastructure for access management and monitoring, Agito says.

The high availability, Cisco integration and Active Directory/LDAP functionality will be available in a new release of RoamAnywhere later this quarter. Pricing for the RoamAnywhere Mobility Router starts at US$10,000 for the 2000 Series, which supports 100 simultaneous users, and $28,000 for the 4000 Series, which supports 1,000 simultaneous users.
