Utility Inc., an Atlanta-based solution provider who specializes in connectivity and mobile video for first responders, has entered into a partnership with Dell Inc. that will see the hardware vendor develop rugged mobility solutions.
Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Dell will begin offering Utility’s cloud-based AVaiL Web mobile Internet of Things (IoT) software-as-a-service (SaaS), as well as two new products scheduled to be formally launched at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) trade show later on in Oct. They will be the new Utility Ultimate Witness Generation 2 Bodyworn Camera and the Core Video Recorder Wireless Router.
Robert McKeeman, CEO and Chairman of Utility, said his company aligns well with Dell and that the partnership will enhance customer accessibility to mobile IoT solutions. Both companies also plan to expand the partnership to jointly develop solutions that support Dell’s move into mobile IoT.
Ed Chun, Dell’s rugged product and solutions strategy manager, added that his company is committed to IoT and Utility provides significant IoT expertise from a mobile standpoint where future Dell products will be integrated with Utility’s AVaiL Web IoT cloud-based software to provide better situational awareness and safety for jobs that include first responders, utility field crews, oil and gas industry professionals, and public transit operators.
Andrew Moore, executive director and GM of Dell rugged mobility products unit, said this partnership provides rugged customers with a combination of vehicle wireless routers and an in-car video recording system that integrates directly with Generation 2 body-worn cameras. With the addition of the Utility AVaiL Web IoT cloud-based software, Dell can offer a holistic, mobile Internet of Things solution that includes our industry-leading Dell Rugged Solutions.
Utility plans to unveil the Ultimate Witness Generation 2 Bodyworn camera and the CORE Video Recorder Wireless Router at Booth 759 at the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in Orlando. The company has also developed wireless connectivity solutions such as the Rocket Vehicle Router and CORE digital multimedia and connectivity system.
