IT reseller found murdered

The founder and president of Toronto-based systems integrator Daedalian eSolutions Inc., Paul Maasland, was found dead near his cottage home in Bracebridge, Ont., according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The OPP are calling it murder and have opened an investigation into the mysterious Maasland death. The police would not say how Maasland, 55, died.

The investigation, under the direction of Detective Inspector Guy Faucher of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is now being conducted in conjunction with the Toronto Police Service (TPS) and Peel Regional Police Service (PRPS).

Maasland’s remains were found on August 30 near a public boatlaunch on Morrow Road in Bracebridge. Two days later on Sept. 1 a post mortem examination of the body was performed at the Ontario Chief Coroners building in Toronto where it was determined that Maasland was a victim of murder.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in this investigation and are asking anyone with information into the activities and whereabouts of Maasland his vehicle between August 29 and 31st.

The Peel Regional Police Service recovered Maasland’s vehicle; a blue 2009 Subaru Forester plate number ATFY625 on August 31, in the Mississauga, Ont. area.

Maasland was one of the true visionary of e-commerce in the Canadian channel. Daedalin was one of the first to offer e-solutions.

In 2001, Maasland sold Daedalin to Western Canadian telco giant Telus for an estimated $29 million in stock.
