CDN 2021 Channel Innovation Conference and Awards: No. 3 solution provider winner Insight Canada

When John Dathan became Insight Canada’s senior vice-president and general manager more than a year ago, he was eager to bring some of the company’s more advanced capabilities from the U.S. into Canada. He says the $581 million acquisition of PCM late 2019 was the key to getting that process started. Insight Canada has gone from a value-added reseller to a well-rounded global solutions provider, but according to senior VP and GM John Dathan, it took most of 2020 for that transformation to really take shape.

Dathan described last year as the “most interesting” year of his career, and that the acquisition ultimately helps Insight Canada move in the same direction as its U.S. counterpart.

While the Canadian business experienced significant momentum in its server and storage business, as well as anything to do with the Microsoft portfolio. But Dathan says Insight Canada can now build out stronger solution sets as well as brand new advisory and consulting services. The three main services-led areas it’s pursuing are the connected workforce – which is anything to do with a device – cloud and data centre transformation, and digital innovation.
