EVault takes a stab at the enterprise market

EVault Inc., a backup and recovery cloud vendor that’s wholly owned by Seagate Technology, is gearing up and down market.

The company, which started back in 1997, has squarely played in the mid-market space and has found success there with more than 43,000 customers. But with a new set of appliance products EVault is looking to build up its channel presence in the enterprise and small business areas.

EVault introduced four new appliances that are scalable to both small business and the enterprise, while providing failproof cloud-connected back and recovery.

The products are:

  • Plug-n-Protect (PnP) 3800 – Built for the enterprise level and to accommodate customers’ ever-growing data stores. Can hold up to 38TB of data in a single (3U) machine, which also includes an unlimited number of agents and application plug-ins.
  • PnP2400 – Ideal for SMBs. It has 24TB of storage capacity and the included unlimited agent and application plug-in licensing simplifies the process of onboarding new servers.
  • PnP100t and Express Recovery Appliance (ERA) 50t – For smaller organizations, these are the most affordable of the new appliance models. The ERA50t has 500GB of storage capacity, while the PnP100t has 1TB of storage capacity.

These new appliances come with EVault Replication software included, which enables the channel to safeguard customer data by replicating it to a separate location via a secure, bandwidth-optimized transfer.

EVault Appliances are powered by EVault Software, disk-based backup and recovery software. Every backup is a delta backup – changes are tracked at the block level – so backup storage is kept small and network bandwidth usage is minimized. Every restore is a single-pass restore, and with the option to use the included bare metal recovery product, EVault System Restore.

Appliance prices start at $2,000.
