Pay It Forward: What goes around…

“It’s always worth it to do something to help out others. I believe in karma,” says Heather Schaan, Vice President & General Manager for solutions provider, Microserve.

Schaan, an honouree at the CDN Women of the IT Channel Recognition Luncheon, sponsored by Ingram Micro Canada, says her approach to diversity goes beyond just women. She says it’s important to promote all people and all different groups, such as the LGBT community. “It’s not just women we need to look after. I have an overall interest in being more inclusive so we have a well-rounded community.”

To achieve this goal, Schaan points to the value of programs such as the Ingram Micro Canada Trust X Alliance Mastermind. Mastermind peer groups are open to owners and senior leadership of Ingram Micro partners who are interested in improving their business strategies and strengthening their leadership skills.

For Schaan, that’s part of paying it forward because “what goes around; comes around.”
